Alternative energy (such as wind and solar energy) is becoming more and more popular these days. With the whole world turning to the ‘going green’ movement, alternative energy has began to go mainstream, with people all over looking to start implementing it in their homes. The only problem with alternative energy is that it is often expensive to purchase, as the technology is still relatively ‘new’, so to speak. So, how can you get the benefits of alternative energy without having to unload your wallet? The answer is simple – You can make it yourself! Between solar and wind power, it is actually easy to do. I strongly suggest the latter. The technology hasn’t changed since the seventies, but the way we get a hold of the parts certainly has. If you built a wind power system in any other period in history you would need to invest a lot of time and money. Even a decade ago this wasn’t as possible. But there are now many great sources to get low cast or no cost parts for your wind power system. Forget about welding a tower together. Ideally to power a home we need the blades to span 5 meters from tip to tip. A smaller rotor will yield less power. We are next put up with a query, can we make our own blades. A good amount of research will be needed. You need to make sure that you are protected against all eventualities. Now comes the turn of the generator.
