Alien Species Design and Organic Success Models

Have you ever considered what alien species might look like? Some of us have and many of our thoughts perhaps are based on those things we see on the silver screen in Hollywood. Indeed the Sci Fi authors, screen writers, graphic artists and illustrators of the present and recent past periods have gripped movie goes and captured our imaginations. But how accurate are these depictions; I mean are they viable considering some of the tight parameters necessary for life on other planets. Living on the surface of the planet or in an ocean of H20 leaves a species with lots of options indeed.

For instance let us consider here on Earth the incredible diversity of living organisms both on land and in our water oceans. Some of the creatures we have on Earth could certainly pass for our ideas of alien creatures. However on a Planet with seas of Methane life would be much different and on a planet with an atmosphere of CO2, the species would not be soft shell like skin and bones, but perhaps hard shell like lobsters, beetles and such?

Recently in an online think tank this subject was brought up and a fellow think tanker Marv, had considered what he believed could be universal rules which would apply to species living in the realm throughout out Universe. His ideas were predicated on “survivability and adaptability” and he came up with a few thoughts of what species would be the most successful and their basic make up specifically; “Bi-lateral symmetry,
Carbon based, Endo-skeletal, at least bi-sexual and ability to exploit the environment to some degree.”

Indeed many of these thoughts do make sense and on the subject of an “Intelligent Alien Species” he had this to say on the matter and stated;

“The ability to deliberately manufacture and manipulate fine things like tools to manufacture other tools is necessary to achieve a culture worthy of the label “intelligent.”

Of course all this would be predicated on the type of environment available on the planet although these are interesting ideas and concepts of what alien life may look like on other planets. Perhaps you have such thought on these things and if not, perhaps you might consider all this in 2006.

What Can We Expect Of The Next Notebook Computers

There has been a big craze for laptop computers lately. Taiwan, which is the leading manufacturing country of laptop computers is struggling with the demand at present. Regardless of credit crunches and other financial conditions laptop computer sales have increased year on year and it doesn’t look to decline any time soon. The technology is developing in all directions simultaneously as well.

Gaming notebooks have recently been inviting a lot of appeal. These days you get tons of value because the latest tech is always around the corner. I think notebooks are a sound choice for gaming. Perhaps not exactly for the hardcore but they’re excellent for the rest of us. Even more suprising these days I think is how thin the chassis’s are becoming especially when you think about much speed is in them. Desktops are greater in size and use greater amounts power so no matter how great gaming notebooks have become desktops will always operate faster. It looks as if everyone is possessed with making sleeker, portable laptops and I’m sure we’ll see gaming notebooks like that in the near future.

Custom built notebooks have been here for a long time now and regardless of big companies trading pre-built notebooks through high streets it looks like there will constantly be laptop builders out there ready to assemble something unique to your wants. One thing with custom notebooks is that you can obtain superior specification parts. In most cases you can ask for all the core parts you require and this is best suited to games players, professional and power users. The large number of laptops are specified for the moderate user which means you may not find what you’re searching for. So clearly this is why you require a custom laptop. Advanced levels of customer service and support can also be found when purchasing custom built notebooks. To a couple of purchasers this is very important.

The outlook of upcoming notebooks looks great. Internet devices look to be an evolving sector right now. Obviously this will be something big in emerging nations. Huge screen and extrodinarily lightweight, that’s what consumers should fancy. I’m sure a few companies are proactively engaged on such things. By Analysing the trends it looks like gaming notebooks will get slimmer and faster. All the brands are seeking to come out with the next major portable so it’ll be interesting to observe.

I found a couple of great gaming laptops from rizeon.

The last sort of forever hair loss is by Cicatricial. This starts when inflammation in the scalp starts scarring of the scalp and the hair follicles fall out permanently and never return. The lady might often lose hair in different sections, or even spread all over the scalp.

Planning Permission Tips UK – What To Show And What Not To Show On Your application Drawings

Many successful business deals are the result of being a bit canny with the information that you already know – keeping a tight lip when needed and only letting the other side know just the bare minimum requirement of information and never laying all your cards onto the table. Successful negotiators use this tactic all the time. I expect all of us can remember a time when we have left a meeting wishing that ‘I hadn’t of said that!’
Well presenting a Planning Application can often involve the precise same tactics at times where you need to retain the advantage in your presentation or application scheme.

Many detailed or complex residential development projects often involve works that can often be implemented without formal Planning Permission – Many garage conversions are a prime example.

So, if your scheme is for a fairly large 2 storey side extension for example that you think is already near the limit for overdevelopment of the site, then why include the garage conversion as well on the Planning scheme if it can be converted under the sites Permitted development allowances. Including building works on a Planning scheme that would not ordinarily require Planning permission is very risky for your other works that do require the benefit of Planning.

Let me explain…….Planners are only human & many are guided by their local plan policy which can be very subjective at times and interpreted in many ways for each site making maximum development of a property a bit of a lottery at times. Therefore, showing all the required works on a Planning drawing can make your project look physically bigger and more extensive that will have a bearing on how the Case Planning Officer determine the suitability of your intended works.

Knowing where the line is for the straw that breaks the camels back for any development scheme is never easy so why not take advantage of excluding the works that can be constructed without Planning in any case. You can always add them to the upgraded Building Regulation and construction drawings later on.

The object is to always give yourself the advantage & for you to ‘risk assess’ every development project that you present for Planning. Taking unnecessary risks with the Planners assessment of your development scheme by also showing them the full detail of the Permitted Development works is foolish. Generally speaking, if Permitted development works are shown on a Planning application scheme then these works will also be roped into the Planners assessment of your scheme.

How many types of works are exempt form formal Planning approval?………Lots and lots – far more than you would credit I can assure you which are published in our ‘maximum Build’ development guide.

I would suggest that 1 in 4 of the residential development schemes that we produce for clients wanting maximum development for their site will involve a good proportion of the works being exempt from formal Planning Permission.

The real trick to exploiting this technique is to be fully sure of your ground regarding what works are excluded from formal Planning Permission & this is where the Professional Building Design Agent has the advantage over the lay person.

The golden rule would be to also confirm in writing after approval of the main scheme that your interpretation of the permitted development works are in fact PD as assessed by the Planning Dept. Any written confirmation of Permitted Development works supplied by the Council can take several weeks to obtain & their letter is only ‘informal’ – in other words they can give wrong or rubbish advice and use a unique government approved ‘get out of jail free card’ to rescind their previous advice.

However, this is good enough for my purposes & the clients use when reselling the property later on.

Our ‘Maximum Build Planning Guide’ explains further the tactics involved when developing land or a site for residential use & how to give yourself the best chance of being granted an approval.

The Evolution Of Pizza

Trying to trace the history of the first pizza is a surprisingly controversial subject. Some claim that this popular food is based on early unleavened breads served in the early centuries in Rome. Others trace a connection from modern pizza back to the pita breads of Greece.

It’s fairly well established that the first pizza as we know it today was created by a man named Raffaele Esposito from Naples, Italy. Esposito’s creation was designed to honor the visit of Queen Margherita to Naples in 1889, and he decorated it with the colors of the Italian flag, using white cheese, green basil, and red tomatoes (tomatoes, which had arrived from the west about 60 years earlier, were originally thought to be poisonous, but by Esposito’s time they were already embraced by Italian cuisine).

As the years passed and the turn of the century came about, Italian immigrants brought this recipe with them to America. The first pizzeria was opened in America in 1905. It remained popular almost exclusively among immigrants until the end of World War II, when American soldiers returned to their home soil and brought back a love of the pizza they had discovered overseas. With that, the pizza boom in America began and this food became a mainstream meal instead of an underground Italian snack.

The concentration of Italian immigrants in New York in those olden days explains the fact that many people feel you must visit New York to get true pizzeria-style pizza. It’s where the pizza got its American start, after all. And nobody who has experienced New York style pizza can disagree. New York is famous for its pizzerias, where a true slice of pizza consists of a thin, wide crust loaded with plenty of toppings and marinara and smothered in heady Italian seasonings. A side of garlic bread and some heady pastas and tortellinis usually round out the menu. Pizzerias in New York are not for the faint of heart.

In the early 1940s, the city of Chicago, IL took pizza in a different direction. It is believed that the first pizzeria in Chicago was Pizzeria Uno, opened in 1943 by Ike Sewell. Sewell’s pizza creation was a new twist on the old New York standard. He created what is known today as deep-dish pizza, where the pizza is sunk low into a deeper pan, and the crust is allowed to rise in thick bubbles around the edges. People flocked to Sewell’s pizzeria, and a whole new way of looking at this favorite food was born.

To this day you can find yourself in some pretty heated debates if you argue with a New Yorker or a Chicagoan about what constitutes authentic pizzeria-style pizza. But whatever crust style you choose, pizza is a unique food with a foggy past and a definite appeal that has lasted through many incarnations.

So you’re lucky enough to find yourself in New York or Chicago, or any city for that matter that has a true pizzeria, complete with checked tablecloths and plenty of garlic on the menu, indulge yourself in an old tradition and order a slice. After all, its tradition.

Pain + Blame = Anger

Early in my research on anger, I was asking prominent professors and psychologists to explain the anger process to me. Their answers of course were never simplistic in nature because they went into a level of detail that I knew the lay-person would have difficulty understanding. After I wrote my book, Street NegotiationHow to Resolve Any Conflict Anytime, I had a much greater understanding of anger and I found that anger really amounts to two things: Pain and Blame.

Pain is Like Gasoline

Think of pain as the fuel for a fire that is anger. Pain is your gasoline for your anger. When I refer to pain, I mean both physical or emotional pain. Pain is a warning signal or stimulus to your mind that you are about to get injured, either physically or emotionally, and that it’s time to place as much distance from that pain as possible in the act of self-preservation. This is what generates the famous “fight or flight response” from our sympathetic nervous system.

Now let’s go back to the gasoline analogy. We know that gas is very dangerous near an open fire. But is gas in and of itself something to be feared? Not really. It’s controllable and we bottle it up and ship it all over the world. We sit right underneath about 15 gallons of it everyday on our way to work. Gasoline, just like pain, does not start fires by itself. Gasoline only becomes deadly when the fire has begun and the gas is fueling that fire to burn hotter and more out of control. Remember that a fire can’t be put out if gas is still being fed to that fire. To stop a fire that has already started, that source of fuel must first be shut off.

Blame is Like the Lighted Match

So if pain does not start anger, then what does? Well, it’s the combination of pain and blame which make anger happen. Blame is the act of choosing to make yourself a victim and the other person the villain. Blame creates the channel from which you can project all your pain out towards another person. A lot of psychologists will refer to this as trigger thoughts, but essentially it’s the act of defaulting responsibility for your actions onto another person and assuming the role of a victim. Blame is the lighted match that sets the pain on fire. Blame on its own, in absence of pain, is like a wooden matchyou can light it up in the beginning, but without any source of fuel, it quickly burns out on its own. However, if you bring blame in direct contact with pain, then what you get is one heck of a fire.

To give you an example: I once hit my shin on the corner of a wooden coffee table as I was walking through the living room of my house one day. It hurt like hell. I was so pissed off at the table for “hurting me” that I kicked it and broke one of the legs to the table. Yeah, inside I felt an evil sense of revenge because I told that table who was boss…that was until I tried setting a glass of juice on that same table later that day only to have it fall off and onto the carpet because of the broken table leg. Blame makes us feel good in the short run, but the long-term effects it has on our relationships can be devastating. Just like when I broke my coffee table, blame can make us feel great and in control because we are venting our pain away, but it can also permanently damage our relationshipsor, in my case, my nice coffee table.

Pain Can’t be Avoided, Blaming Can

So then you might askhow can I manage my anger? Well, we have very little control over the amount of pain that we experience our lives. We can never truly avoid accidents, or headaches, or stomach pains, or breakups, or conflictsthese pains that we experience are a normal part of the life process. What we can change in the anger formula is the blame. We choose to blame someone, something, even ourselves for our pain, but that doesn’t need to happen. We blame because then it erases our responsibility for our own actions and instead projects that responsibility onto another person. Blame is an easy way to get rid of pain, but with serious consequences. We blame when we cannot fully express our own feelings, either to ourselves or to others. Instead of blaming, try to simply express your feelings openly without any blaming, judgments, or accusations. Do this by using, “I feel” statements, rather than “you” statements.

This is more difficult than it sounds, but if you practice during normal conversations expressing how you feel, instead of focusing on the actions or behavior of the other person of which you have little or no control over, you will condition yourself to respond compassionately, rather than with anger.

Remember, pain comes to us all, but we have the choice of starting the anger process by blaming the other person, or we can choose to express our pain without blame and deal with the situation compassionately.
